Bread upma |
- Bread - 7 slices
- Onion - 1 large
- Tomato - 2 small/ 1 medium
- Oil - 1 tbsp
- Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
- Green chilly - 1 or 2 nos
- Ginger - 1/2 inch
- Hing/ Asafoetida - Pinch
- Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
- Red Chilly Powder - 1/2 tsp
- Lemon juice - 1 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Cilantro leaves - handful
- Fine sev - handful (optional)
Method:
- Cut the bread to squares.
- Heat oil in a kadai. When oil is hot, add mustard seeds.
- When it starts spluttering, add hing, grated ginger, finely chopped green chilly and saute for a minute.
- Add finely chopped onion and saute till it turns translucent.
- Add tomatoes, de-seeded and finely chopped to the kadai and saute till they turn mushy.
- Add turmeric powder, red chilly powder and salt. Mix well.
- It is optional to add 1/4 cup water at this stage.
- Add lemon juice and cook closed for 2minutes.
- Add bread pieces and mix well.
- Garnish with freshly chopped cilantro and sev.
- Serve hot.
