- Basmati Rice / Jeerakasala Rice - 1 cup
- Ghee - 1 tbsp
- Onion - 1/2 of a small
- Cardomom - 1
- Cloves - 1 or 2
- Cinnamon - 1 small piece
- Cashews+Kismis+Fried Onions - a few for garnishing
- Salt to taste
- Lemon Juice - 1 tbsp
- Boiling water - 1 1/2 cup
Method:
- Wash and soak rice for 20-30minutes.
- Heat ghee in a pressure cooker. Add think sliced onion and whole spices and saute till onions fade.
- If using basmati rice, add drained rice to the sauted onions and fry for a minute. Add boiling water. If using jeerakasala rice, add water followed by drained rice.

- Add salt and lemon juice and mix well.
- Pressure cook on medium flame for one whistle.
- Let the pressure release by it's own. Garnish with fried onions, cashews and kismis.
