- Oats - 2 cups
- Whole Wheat Flour - 1/4 cup (Depends on type of oats)
- Shredded Coconut - 1/2 cup
- Salt to taste
- Water- 1/2 cup
Method:
- Pulse oats for few mins till oats is coarsely ground.
- Mix 2tbsp of shredded coconut in water, with salt to taste. Further add it to the powdered oats.
- Mix well with hand to form a sticky dough without any lumps.
- Add 2-4 tbsp of whole wheat flour to mixer jar along with half of the puttu mixture prepared and pulse until powdered fine. Adding whole wheat flour will make the mixture dry from sticky.
- Repeat with the remaining puttu mixture as well.
- It is optional to add few tbsp of shredded coconut to the final puttu mix to enhance the taste.
- Allow water to boil in a pressure cooker on high flame. Close with the cooker lid without the pressure whistle.
- Add 2tbsp of shredded coconut to Puttu Kuti.
- Fill with the prepared mixture loosely leaving a gap to add 2tbsp of shredded coconut at the end. Care to be taken not to fill the puttu maker with excess mixture.
- Place the puttu maker on the nozzle of the cooker when steam starts coming.
- Steam on high flame for 4-6mins.
- Enjoy with Pazham, Pappadam or curry of your choice.
