- All Purpose Flour / Whole Wheat Flour - 1 cup
- Sugar - 1/2 cup
- Unsalted Butter - 1/2 cup
- Baking Soda - 1/8 tsp
- Cardomom Powder - 1 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Cashews / Pistachios, halved - to decorate
Method:
- Sieve flour with salt, cardomom powder, baking soda and keep aside.
- Beat butter until fluffy in a mixing bowl. Add sugar to the beated butter.
- When the mixture becomes creamy, add the dry ingredients and gently fold it in one direction. Do not overmix.
- Mix to a smooth dough.
- Grease a pan with butter or ghee. Make small dough balls and keep it on the pan with atleast one inch gap in between.
- Press gently to flatten and place nuts of your choice to decorate.
- Bake in preheated oven at 180°C (355°F) for 15-25mins or till done.
- Nankhatais will be soft when hot. Let it cool down on racks to room temperature to harden.
