Orange Chicken

 
Ingredients:

For chicken marination:
  • Chicken - 1/2 kg
  • Salt - 1 tsp
  • Pepper Powder - 1 tsp
  • Egg - 1 nos
  • Corn Flour - 3 tbsp
  • Maida - 5 tbsp
  • Curd - 2 tbsp
  • Water as required
  • Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Kashmiri Red Chilly Powder - 1 tsp
For gravy:
  • Orange Juice - 3 tbsp
  • Vegetable Oil - 1 tbsp + 1 tsp
  • Chilly Flakes - 1 tbsp
  • Ginger - 1/2 tsp
  • Garlic - 1 tbsp
  • Sugar - 2 to 3 tbsp
  • Vinegar - 2 to 3 tbsp
  • Soya Sauce - 1 tbsp
  • White Sesame - 1/2 tsp (Optional) 
Method:
  • Add all the dry ingredients mentioned under marination to a mixing bowl, mix well. Add curd, oil, egg, water and make a smooth paste.
  • Marinate chicken in the wet mixture. Rest for atleast an hour or overnight as required.

  • Deep fry the chicken pieces till light golden.

  • Heat 1 tbsp oil in a saucepan. Add chilly flakes and saute for a minute.
  • Add finely chopped ginger and garlic. Saute on high flame for a minute.
  • Further add sugar, orange juice, soya sauce and vinegar. Bring it to a quick boil. Taste check and add fried chicken pieces.

  • Give it a quick mix and serve hot garnishing with sesame seeds.
