- Maida - 1 cup
- Sugar - 2 cups
- Water - 5 cups + 1 cup
- Coconut Oil - 1 3/4 cups to 2 cups
- Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp (Optional for color)
Method:
- Make a lumpfree batter with Maida and 5 cups water. Rest it for 2 days.
- Grease a pan with oil and keep aside.
- Sprinkle
- Mix well and strain the maida solution after 2 days and keep aside.
- Add 1 cup sugar along with 1 cup water in a thick bottom pan. Avoid non stick vessels. Stir well to dissolve and let water come to a vigorous boil.
- When water is boiling, add pinch of turmeric powder(or color if adding) and mix well.
- Further add 1/3rd portion of coconut oil taken and mix well followed by strained maida solution. Do not stop stirring after adding maida solution and maintain medium heat throughout the cooking process.
- Add 1/2 of sugar taken and keep stirring.
- When the mixture starts thickening, add the rest of the sugar and oil to the pan. Stir well to combine.
- After atleast 1.5 to 2 hours, added oil will be floating on the top and the Halwa starts settling on bottom.
- Keep stirring for atleast 30 more mins or till the halwa holds together.
- Using a dry ladle transfer the excess oil on top to a container (make sure no water in the ladle or the container).
- Transfer the halwa to mould and keep it aside for 3-4 hours.
- Cut to desired shape and enjoy.
